With manufacturing back as the lion of the British economy, Ash & Lacy Perforators are flying the flag for the Midlands through innovative products and services.
Located in the heart of the Midlands, Ash & Lacy are the UK’s leading manufacturer of high specification perforated metals and expanded metals that are used to create products for the aerospace, automotive, IT and construction industries both for the home market and export.
Following a management buyout in 2010, Ash & Lacy have continued to flourish through innovative product development, significant investment in machinery and people and by being able to offer total in-house solutions.
“Whether a company wants something off the shelf or something entirely unique, we have gained an enviable reputation for delivering excellent results – on time, to specification and on budget” comments David Nock, Ash & Lacy Sales and Marketing Director.
“If there is a pattern that somebody requires for a specific project or new product and we don’t have the tool to make it, then our in-house design and tooling team will create it. Our strength lies in our ability to offer our customers a total solution from concept to completion”
The modern and busy factory in Smethwick is fully equipped to cater for all types of projects, as are the highly trained and dedicated workforce. Ash & Lacy work to precise and meticulous standards of quality control so training and investment in people and machinery is paramount. Flawless patterns with holes as small as 0.8mm can be provided whilst the presses, which vary from 80 to 500 tonnes, can work with materials up to 1500mm wide. The range of CNC operated presses can produce many shapes in a variety of materials, as well as the ability to level, flatten and recoil.
Ash & Lacy are also experts in profiling, bolt holes, notches, guillotining, folding and can galvanize, powder coat, anodize, weld and fabricate.
Although there is resurgence in UK manufacturing, it is widely accepted that the companies most likely to prosper are those focusing on high quality and premium products and it is here that Ash & Lacy have made their mark. The automotive industry is one of the areas performing well and products from Ash & Lacy, such as car speaker grilles and acoustic panels which can be seen in prestigious marques like Bentley, Land Rover and Rolls Royce aero engines.
“We‘re very proud of the relationships we’ve built with clients in the automotive industry” commented David. “Like all our customers they set exacting standards which we have to meet and our commitment to quality is demonstrated by our accreditation to BS EN 90001:2008.”
Ash & Lacy have recently signed a seven year agreement to supply Magna, the most diversified automotive supplier in the world with perforated metal speaker grilles.
With sales going well in the UK, Ash and Lacy are targeting the global marketplace and have recently supplied perforated acoustic white liner products to a number of prestigious projects in the Middle East, including Dubai Airport.
Other industries that benefit from perforated products from Ash & Lacy include computer enclosure manufacturers and aerospace. Perforated enclosures keep high value computers and servers cool by increasing airflow whilst in the aerospace industry, acoustic aero engine panels are produced. Perforated products are also widely used by construction and civil engineering for balustrades, balconies and seating.
Recent exciting developments have seen Ash & Lacy strengthen their position as a leading supplier of fine hole perforated metal speaker grilles into the automotive and multimedia markets, by offering fully formed, painted and assembled finished grilles.
“Our expansion into finished product opens up a whole new area of opportunity for growth, as does our ambitious approach to the global marketplace” explains David. “We have already invested in new machinery and recruited 2 new employees but we are confident it is only the start. Ash & Lacy are an innovative, and forward thinking manufacturer of high specification products and we are proud to be flying the flag for Midlands and UK growth”
